Welcome, from Pastor Nathan Martin Rehn: Thanks for visiting our homepage today. We at First Baptist of Monterey are really trying to live for a purpose. We meet together because we believe we are led to worship God, and fellowship together. We want to study God's Word, apply it to our lives, and build accountability relationships with each other so that we will grow in maturity in Christ. Our church motto: "Growing together for God's glory." Recently, at our annual board retreat, we drew up a draft of a mission statement. Here it is: "The purpose of First Baptist Church of Monterey is to glorify God by knowing Him and leading everyone to salvation and maturity in His Son, Jesus Christ, through the truth of the Word of God by the gracious work of the Holy Spirit." Since 1910 First Baptist Church of Monterey has been a lighthouse near the bay. We have a great history of holding firmly to the Word of God, teaching it carefully to believers, and reaching out to those who do not know Him, both here in the Monterey Bay area, and around the world. It is now our challenge to remain faithful to Jesus Christ, and passionately committed to doing God's will. As we continue to grow in the knowledge of His word, and our love for God and each other, we will continue to be a lighthouse into the new millennium. Currently we are doing a study on the Second London Baptist Confession. We are excited about using it as a teaching tool and as a more comprehensive doctrinal statement. You may read The London Confession here. It is a tremendous privilege to be the pastor of First Baptist Church of Monterey. I am very challenged and excited to see what God is going to accomplish as we grow together to glorify God. "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever!
